A Passion for Learning
Union’s lively academic atmosphere breeds creative thinkers who enjoy sharing ideas, discourse and research. English major Kara McCabe, who comes from a long line of Union scholars, began reading D.H. Lawrence while abroad. She was so taken by his literature that she started an e-mail discussion about it with her faculty advisor and eventually wrote her senior thesis on the depiction of female passion in Lawrence’s works. As an accomplished opera singer who also designed an independent study course on Proust, McCabe embodies the diverse interests and spirit of intellectual inquiry typical of our students.
